
At the 7th Africa Emerging Markets Forum (AEMF 2026), the Director-General of the World Trade Organization (WTO), Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, and the Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Mr. Olayemi Cardoso, delivered a major policy dialogue. Held at the CBN Headquarters in Abuja from July 29 to July 30, 2026, the high-level fireside chat addressed the theme, “Building Resilience Amidst Geo-economic Uncertainties.”. The two economic leaders challenged African nations to shift from adapting to global changes to actively driving international economic trends. The forum was co-hosted by the CBN in partnership with the Emerging Markets Forum (EMF) and the Centre for the Study of the Economies of Africa (CSEA). It brought together prominent figures including Nigeria’s Minister of Finance Taiwo Oyedele, EMF Chief Executive Harinder Kohli, and World Bank Chief Economist Indermit Gill.
