The Afrobeats crooner welcomed three kids with his long-term love, Chioma Rowland, in addition to three other kids from previous relationships

Davido is breathing rarefied air. Not just because he is one of the biggest Afrobeats musicians out right now, but because he is one of the few parents whose teenage kids actually think he’s cool.
“My daughters don’t even recognize their moms when I’m around. My kids love me so much,” the singer raves to PEOPLE exclusively. “Especially my oldest daughters, my two older daughters, I had them when I was very young and they’re at an age where their friends are big fans of me. I go and pick them from school in the Lamborghini and the Rolls-Royce with their friends and they feel cool.”
The 33-year-old is a proud father of six, sharing three kids with wife Chioma Rowland, in addition to two older daughters, Aurora Imade and Hailey Veronica, as well as son Dawson, from previous relationships. Davido and Rowland’s first son, David Ifeanyi, sadly died in a drowning accident in 2022, before they welcomed twins in 2023.
Settling down as a family man has naturally had an impact on the star’s creative process. Where previous projects had a lot of people around, his new album, Oriadé, was made with a much smaller circle.
“I wasn’t in the studio with 100 people and it was different for me,” he reveals. “Being in the studio with just me, the producer, the engineer and probably just one or two friends, because my studio now is in my house — my actual house where I live and my kids are there — making this album around family, there was a lot of love around and happiness.”
As for what kind of father he is, he reveals that he and his kids keep an open line of communication. Not only do they download him on all the happenings of teen life, but he also gets to share in his travels with them.
“My daughters talk to me about their crushes and I tell them how to move,” he explains. “It feels good having daughters, having kids that are very aware about what their father is doing, seeing me doing legendary stuff. They come to my shows, they get on stage, they sing my records from the first day it comes out.”
And while fatherhood and parenting are priorities, he still has a career to upkeep. As one of the most in-demand artists right now, his days are filled with performances, press and travel. In the last year alone, he completed 42 dates on the 5ive Alive Tour, spanning 12 countries across four continents. He made his Coachella debut in April and appeared on the official FIFA World Cup 2026 soundtrack album with the single “No Place Like Home” alongside Major Lazer and Nelly Furtado.
Even with their close relationship, however, Davido tries to make sure he separates family and work. The kids often don’t frequent the studio when he’s working because it inherently interferes with the whole process.
“My family goes first before anything, so it’s really hard for me to give a 100% concentration in my creative process [if they’re around],” he explains. “I like to separate the two parts of my life. But when it’s time to go on tour, because obviously they love coming on tour with me, they come out to the shows and then yes, we celebrate.”
So, how does he go about striking a balance between being an active parent and a global superstar? He relies heavily on the help of his support system.
“Shout out to [my kids’] moms, man. Their moms do a good job of taking care of them when I have to go on the road,” Davido tells PEOPLE. “And even with the twins, my wife does an amazing job taking care of the house, taking care of the finances, and making sure everything is right. So I have a good backbone when I’m not around.”
While they have been together for over a decade, Davido and Rowland got married in a traditional wedding in their hometown of Lagos, Nigeria in 2024. They then followed up with an extravagant white wedding in Miami last August. The pair have had their fair share of ups and downs, but the “Aye” crooner maintains that Rowland is the glue that keeps it all together.
“I got a good partner, man. I feel like my wife is one of the major components of my life. Different things work for different people. Some people it’s their best friend, some people it’s their dad, some people it’s their mom. You just always have that one person that just keeps you on track. And for me, that’s my wife. Since we’ve been married, my life has been balanced.”
