Houston, Texas the heartbeat of Nigerians in Diaspora has spoken, they have cried and sang in unison: “Carry me dey go, Obi carry me dey go for better Naija! That’s Nigerian pidgen English. Carry me, move forward; Obi carry me, move forward, to better Nigeria.
Obi has won, if nothing, the hearts of these ones. Similar mammoth crowd welcomed him wherever he went on this tour, Canada, UK, and Germany. The crowd that thronged Marriot West Chase in Houston shows that where there is vision, the people will see the light and find their way.
Peter has not claimed that it is his turn, or life dream, nor has he declared a purpose and went home to stay and went for coronation. He works the talk. He is meeting the people where they are. He explains where he is going and they , in affect, agree. They sing it: Obi carry me dey go! What better endorsement. Obi did not bribe them to gather. Infact, we PAID THEIR WAY to see the candidate and cheer him on. A different Nigeria is crystalizing, and Peter Obi is driving it. Drive forward sir!
