El-Rufai Honours EFCC Invitation for Questioning

“Former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, on Monday arrived at the headquarters of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission in Abuja over ongoing investigations into alleged corruption during his tenure. His arrival reportedly sparked tension at the EFCC entrance, as security operatives restricted members of his entourage from entering the premises. Supporters of the ex-governor gathered at the junction leading to the commission, chanting slogans and holding placards with inscriptions such as “El-Rufai is a citizen, not a subject” and “We stand with El-Rufai. We stand for law.” (punch)

Today is his Birthday, Mallam  El-Rufai was born on February 16 1960.

“Upon arrival in Nigeria last week from Egypt, the former Kaduna State governor said he would be honouring an invitation by the EFCC on Monday by 10:am.He said the anti-graft commission had invited him while he was out of the country but that his lawyers had written to the commission that he would be available on Monday. The former governor has made a series of controversial statements lately, including claims of tapping the phone of the National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu and questioning the alleged importation of 10 kilograms of thallium sulphate.”(Leadership news)
