Harvard University Honors Chimamanda Adichie, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Gov. Deval Patrick and others with the Highest Award – W. E. B. Du Bois Medal

Harvard University, Hutchins Center for African & African American honored Nigerian novelist, Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie and six others’ vanguard of diverse walks of life with the W. E. B. Du Bois Medal which is the Harvard’s highest honor in the field of African and African American studies.

“The W. E. B. Du Bois Medal is Harvard’s highest honor in the field of African and African American studies. It is awarded to individuals in the United States and across the globe in recognition of their contributions to African and African American culture and the life of the mind. Recipients have included scholars, artists, writers, journalists, philanthropists, and public servants whose work has bolstered the field of African and African American studies.”

Other beneficiaries of the honour including DevalPatrick, the former Governor of Massachusetts and its only Black governor, artist Betye Saar, NBA legend Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, actress Laverne Cox, arts patron Agnes Gund, and executive and philanthropist Raymond J. McGuire .

“The presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP), Peter Obi was at Harvard University, Massachusetts, in the United States of America as the notable Nigerian novelist, Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie received the W.E.B Du Bois Medal on Thursday.”
