Prime Minister of Italy Giorgia Meloni speaks at African Union on migration and investment

February 15, 2026 by AFRIPOL 1 Comment

“At the February 2026 African Union summit in Addis Ababa, Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni advocated for a “new era of cooperation” with Africa, moving away from traditional aid toward investment-led partnerships via the Mattei Plan to tackle the root causes of migration. She emphasized building, not exploiting, Africa’s potential to stop young people from being forced to leave. “

Italy's Meloni at African Union:

Those who believe that migration is necessary and indispensable are in fact acting selfishly.

If young people leave their land… what will become of the history, culture, and existence of the country they have abandoned? pic.twitter.com/jRe42yZkPR

Africa did not became this way. There were factors that brought this situation in Africa. Therefore Africa must be made whole and her history be repaired by those that destroyed it.
