Grammy-winning artist Matt B (Matthew David Benson) has gained significant attention for tracing his ancestral roots to Imo State, Nigeria. Following a DNA test, he discovered his Igbo heritage and traveled to Nigeria to connect with his family, an emotional journey celebrated in his award-winning music. Matt B, originally from Chicago, took an ancestry DNA test that confirmed he was primarily Nigerian (Igbo). His family had been separated from their ancestral land for over 400 years. This revelation led him to Nigeria, where he was officially crowned with the honorary chieftaincy title of Nwanne Na Namba (meaning “a brother from another/faraway land”) by local chiefs.
