Justine Sacco, IAC executive tweets racist joke on flight to S.Africa

“A message about race and AIDS in Africa posted on the Twitter account of a public relations executive at an Internet media giant on Friday caused a global outcry on Twitter and the web. The message, from the account of Justine Sacco, the communications director for InterActiveCorp, better known as IAC, read: “Going to Africa. Hope I don’t get AIDS. Just kidding. I’m white!” – New York Times

Justine Sacco,is the chief communications director for IAC, headed by Barry Dillerthat represents brands like OKCupid, Match.com, The Daily Beast, Dictionary.com and BlackPeopleMeet.com, a dating site for African-Americans. IAC is based in New York City.

Barry Diller, IAC CEO media billionaire Barry Diller, reacted by calling Justine Sacco tweet ‘outrageous’ and ‘offensive.’
