The onetime aide to former President Jonathan and the unofficial expert on anything Nigeria, Reno Omokri “feel sorry” for Ike Ekweremadu and his wife on their arrest in London. The high class couple was denied bails earlier today in United Kingdom as they were charged for human exploitation and trafficking of a minor for organ harvesting.
The full scope of their ordeal in London and its ramification is still unfolding.
Reacting to this surprised news, Omokri was concerned that Ekweremadu’s own people are not giving him a benefit of doubt compared to Abba Kyari and Trump whose people were protective and loving. Although, some social media users were not supportive does not necessarily reflect or represent the general views of his people. Social media cannot be the barometer for measuring emotionality or sentimentality.
Writing on his Instagram page, Reno Omokri, observes: “As bad as Abba Kyari is, his people are staying by him until he is proven guilty. In the US, Trump’s people stayed loyal to him, no matter the charge. An accusation is not a conviction. I feel sorry for this red cap chief.
“His own people have totally forgotten the development he attracted to his area and are acting like he has already been convicted. I doubt he will be convicted. There must be an explanation. The man is not a pauper. But I feel sad how he is treated as an orphan.
“First have love amongst yourself before saying others don’t love you!, Omokri concluded.
But the question that begs to be asked: Who are his (Ekweremadu) people anyway?
Is it his political or ideological family? Or is it his people from Enugu State, South East political zone or the entire Igbo nation? The need for clarification is necessary because as a former deputy president of senate his constituency is the entire Nigeria.
While in his Twitter page, Reno extended his sympathy and wrote, “May God be with the Ekweremadus at this their hour of travail. May God help their daughter, Sonia, find a donor. May the young man involved find peace. Trials come in life, but God is our Shelter. Our ever present hope. May God bring healing to this situation. In Christ’s Name.”
