Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, the Anambra State governor has written the state House of Assembly seeking the approval for N100 billion loan. Soludo recently completed his 100 days in office, which he ascribed as bumpy and challenging, but expressed optimism for the future.

Soludo revealed a while ago that Anambra state was saddled with huge debt and was financially stressed. He said the state was N109 billion in debt with cash flow of between N300 million and N400 million.

The loan will be used for the construction and refurbishment of key infrastructure in Anambra state according to the letter he sent to the state lawmakers dated July 5, 2022.

The Speaker of The State Assembly, Mr Uche Okafor read the governor’s letter on the assembly floor : “Mr Governor, is seeking the approval to secure a N100bn Global Limit Multiple Term Loan Facility for the construction and refurbishment of key infrastructure in the state.”

Finally, the 2022 Revised Appropriation Bill of N169.6billion for Anambra State was passed by the lawmakers after 55 days the governor sends the bill for approval. Governor Soludo is expected to sign the bill.
