Ghanaian immigrant, Annette Addo-Yobo, made history as the first black immigrant to win Miss Texas

History was made in Texas, USA as a Ghanaian immigrant, Annette Addo-Yobo wins Miss Texas pageant. “Annette Addo-Yobo is originally from Ghana. She made history as the first immigrant-born and Ghanaian to win the title of Miss Texas 2024. She is an autism advocate and performed a spoken word piece for her talent during the competition.” After her crowning of Miss Texas 2024, she wrote on social media space, “I am humbled, honored and grateful to serve as your 87th Miss Texas.”

“From June 25 to June 29, contestants vying for the crown competed in categories including talent, interview, health and fitness and evening gown. As an autism advocate, Addo-Yobo performed a spoken word piece for her talent. Her platform also centers on autism, which the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention says affects about 75 million people including her brother..” (Houston Chronicle)
