“Let Us Build A Medical Center in Umuoji” – Chief (Dr.) Ide Okoye

At the concluded July 2018 Umuoji convention held in New Jersey USA, the current president general of Umuoji Improvement Union of North America Chief Ide Okoye pushes a bold and ambitious agenda.

Dr. Victor Ide-Okoye – “Ide of Umuoji” “Ichie Idejuogwugwu” called on all Umuoji natives worldwide to rise to the task of building a great and prosperous Umuoji. His clarion call was centered and focused on the tall order of building an “ultra modern medical facility for our beloved town Umuoji.”

Since the energetic and enterprising Ide Okoye was elected president UIU/North America he did assure that his effort and administration will be grounded in community development and transparency.

Speaking to AFRIPOL in September 2017 interview on his agenda, he proclaimed: “We have a slew of things on our agenda. We plan on visiting some of our branches, opening more branches, creating a UIU North America Youth Wing, and embarking on more Medical missions in Umuoji and possibly build another health Center in Umuoji. Also making sure that we do what is necessary in terms of security to keep our folks in Umuoji safe.”

At the convention in New Jersey USA, Ide Okoye put forward the agenda of building a Medical Center in Umuoji in order to alleviate the suffering of our people in Umuoji that lack medical infrastructure to attend to their health needs. The building of a well equipped medical center will enhance and sustain the health well being of Umuoji community.

Okoye emphasized in the speech he delivered at convention on the benefits of providing affordable and proximity medical center to those residing in Umuoji and beyond. He urged every able men and women of Umuoji to contribute in making the task a successful endeavor.

His words: “Today we are raising money to build a modern medical Center in Umuoji, our home town. Back home in Umuoji Anambra State, Nigeria, when most of our people become sick, the first thing they do is to go to nearby local store (chemist) and buy medicine to self-medicate. Often times, these self-medication ends in disastrous consequences.”

He further stressed: “Most recently so many young Umuojians are dying from very minor and curable ailments and the way to stop premature deaths is to erect a Modern Medical Center and properly equip it.”

Dr. Ide Okoye called the task of building a Medical Health Center in Umuoji a “noble project” and implored for a collective effort of making it a reality.
