Davido and Dababy

The two giant’s superstars of Hip Pop and Afrobeats took their game to the streets of Lagos, Nigeria, where they made the video of their latest duo song, “Showing Off Her Body”. The video is both colorful and hip, detailing the life of street wise guys and showcasing the life of royalty.

Lagos the megacity of Nigeria, is quickly taking its place as the center of Black excellence and uppity showbiz center of Black world. Nollywood, the Nigerian version of Hollywood have its residence at Lagos, while the entertainment makers of Afrobeats music find their home also in the booming metropolitan Lagos. Then talk of the Lagos fashion industry with its designers making statements with their African based styled clothing.

The song and video collaboration of Davido and Dababy also reflected their two unique worlds. Dababy is from Atlanta Georgia, the Mecca of anything Black in America while Davido alias OBO is from Lagos the center of Nigerian cultural renaissance.

On the streets of Lagos as shown in the video, even the children were also getting into the groove of Afrobeats music. There is a rhythm that you can see, feel and touch in Lagos where the matching of foot movement sings about the complex life in Lagos. The music video shows the popularity of Davido in the streets of Lagos among the community of the young people . Davido continues to expand the act of possibility in Nigeria. He is among the first to export Afrobeats to America and displaying the enduring love of brotherhood between Blacks in America and at home in motherland.

“Showing off Her Body” video buttressed a cultural duality. One side shows Dababy and Davido yaking it up with folks on the street and next they were parading in rich African traditional rope, living it up as royalty and bigwigs.
