Morality and societal etiquette are now incorporated in school activities and curriculum of Anambra State government. The Commissioner for Education of Anambra State, Prof. Ngozi Chuma-Udeh has recently announced with immediate effect that on resuming for the new academic session on next week Monday, wearing of miniskirts in both public and private schools in the state is banned.
The commissioner stipulated that the acceptable length for uniforms in the state for the female students must be knee length and not below the knee length. The miniskirts are not the correct code of school dressing.
She further emphasized the ethos and mannerism for school dressing is to model smart looking and intellectual students ready for school activities. She said, “A student should look smart, well groomed, project positive vibes and not be indecently dressed for school.” Therefore miniskirts will not be a presentable looks for students in school.
This reemphasis of code of dressing has become necessary because some of the students have avoided the stipulated and acceptable dressing code in schools, therefore government intervention becomes necessary.
