Miss South Africa Ndavi Nokeri’s advocacy on Schools Inequality

October 19, 2022 by AFRIPOL Leave a Comment

Ndavi Nokeri became Miss South Africa about two months ago and now she is embarking on advocacy campaign primarily on schools inequality in South Africa. At the launching of her education advocacy held at Constitution Hill in Johannesburg, she delineated her reason for choosing education inequality as her utmost priority :

“When I had to choose what I want to advocate for I went back to my personal story, which is something I can truly relate to and that’s so close to my heart. As a girl who comes from a village, I got to see the difference between the trajectory of my life changing versus my peers, meanwhile, we’d play together but when we go to our different schools, our situations are so different and that contributed greatly to where we’d be in life,” she explains.

“So, for me, it was so important that now that I have been given the platform, I can give back to where I come from and not only in my village but also understanding that there [are] so many girls and boys all over the country who find themselves in similar situations,.

She continued, “I’m a person who is very specific with my vision. If you know my story, you’ll know that in 2020 I wrote down in my vision board that in 2022 I’d be Miss SA. So, it’s the same with this campaign, the amount is something tangible and it’s not to say that this our limit – we plan to go over it. So, R6 million is achievable and we already have R600 000 and we’ve only just begun and I believe that there’s so much more that will come and we’ll make a great impact. And if you’re wondering how her reign has been so far, she describes it as a “wonderful whirlwind of emotions”. “It’s been an adjustment, but mostly it’s been amazing. I’ve grown so much and it’s only been two months so I can only imagine where I’m going to be after my reign.”
