Desmond Tutu – Golden Eagle of liberty

Desmond Tutu – Golden Eagle of liberty
(Poem dedicated to late Desmond Tut)

AS they gathered on the top of Iroko
Tree parts were brittle and malleable
Roots were dried from suffocation, lacking water and air
The eagles dangling on the leaves with ramification
For freedom was locked by invading darkness
Then comes the voice of freedom
“ who shall touch the stars and brings back the thunder”

Yet the residential parts cannot be assured
So as the Iroko, devolving, diminishing, devaluing by drought
But here comes the wisdom of the ages
As you bring fire from the stars
The glorious rain will follow put

Then comes the golden eagle
With the eyes on the prize, challenging the presence of bondage
Others afraid to fly as drought weaken confidence
Refusing to succumb to the darkness
The journey to freedom was born
Conceived in the drought, germinated in dryness

Preparation of freedom was altered by closed minds
Golden eagle refused to curse the darkness
Rather endeavored to light the candle
He flew to greater heights, touching the ending sky
He caught the stars not one but many
With that comes the rain of freedom
And freedom blossoms into liberty

Bringing the fire from the thunder
Terminating the dryness with glorious rain
Watering the Iroko tree, blossoming the leaves
Engulfing the root with energetic strides
Here freedom comes
Here freedom stays
His freedom lives
and liberty endures forever
