South East students dominated several categories at the 2026 South East Mathematics Olympiad and the 23rd Annual National Mathematics Competition (ANMC), with major wins in the Primary, Junior, and Senior categories
National & Regional Champions
- Primary Category: Egejurum Onyedikachi of Diamond Special College, Owerri (Imo State), emerged as a regional champion, defeating over 11,500 participants with 13 out of 15 points.
- Junior Category: Onwubiko Chimdiebube of Evergreen Schools, Enugu, secured first place after a tie-breaker round.
- Senior Category: Don-Anele Marvelous Munachimso, also of Diamond Special College, Owerri, won the Senior category and was crowned the overall regional mathematics champion.
- National Success: Ifunanya Nwanegbo from Anambra State beat over 200,000 competitors to win the 23rd ANMC in Abuja with a score of 98.132%.

Key Highlights and Prizes
- Imo State Dominance: Imo State was the overall best-performing state in the regional Olympiad.
- Evergreen Schools Clean Sweep: Students from Evergreen Schools, Enugu, swept the top three positions in the Junior Secondary School category.
- Rewards:
- Don-Anele Marvelous Munachimso received ₦5 million, a ₦1 million bonus for his teacher, and a $100,000 scholarship to Canada.
- Egejurum Onyedikachi won ₦2 million for his first-place finish.
- Ifunanya Nwanegbo was awarded a 100% scholarship and ₦400,000 cash.
- International Invitation: The top three regional winners have been invited to represent Nigeria at the International STEM Olympiad Grand Finale in Rome, scheduled for July 2026.
